Enriching our local communities
At Cytec, we’re aware of the importance of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and supporting worthwhile charities and causes at both a local and national level.
One way in which we support the local community we reside in is with our litter-picking initiative. The drive is Cytec’s way of making sure we are good citizens in the boroughs that our team reside in and is a commitment to the importance of its CSR.
Each month, a member of the Cytec team will go into their local community and devote some of their free time to litter picking within their surroundings. In May, it was the turn of Gemma Baker who, with her daughter, cleaned up a site in the woods.
“My daughter and I enjoyed a delightful time picking up litter in our local woods. We felt particularly satisfied cleaning up this area, which happens to be a favourite hangout spot for my daughter and her friends. It was a wonderful opportunity for mother-daughter bonding whilst getting some fresh air and contributing to the environment. Surprisingly, we collected quite a bit of litter, and we’re proud of our efforts. We’re already looking forward to doing it again with the rest of our family!” – Gemma Baker, Finance Assistant, Cytec Solutions
“I’m proud of the fact that our team have embraced our ESG efforts and it’s a credit to everyone who gets involved. At Cytec, our ESG efforts are undertaken by every level of our team, and it is a big priority for us as a business. It’s important that organisations look not just at what the local community provides them but also what they can contribute to the communities they operate within.” – Richard Nelson, Managing Director, Cytec
Cytec’s commitment to CSR
Alongside our litter picking efforts, we also support the British Heart Foundation (BHF) at a national level with a collection bucket situated at our office. The BHF is the largest funder of research into heart and circulatory diseases, a leading cause of death within the United Kingdom.
At a local level, we work with the Felix Project, a charity that supports London-based communities by saving surplus food from suppliers and redistributing it to those in need.
